Test setup 2025

This summer we tested the whole machinery in Switzerland. The evaporation unit still needs enhancements, but the system works well.

This test setup simulates an entire plant.

There is a 1,000-litre tank at the top (right-hand side) and another one at the bottom. Due to the slope of the terrain, the salt water flows through hoses to the evaporation unit (black). On the way there, it is heated using solar thermal energy. The PV-cells then evaporate the water. Additional PV-cells supply electricity for a small network, which is needed for control and pumping. The evaporated water is measured and flows to the lower tank. From there, it is pumped back up again.

3.5-4 kg of salt is needed for 100 litres of water.
